Ribeira da Janela

Ribeira da Janela a small beautiful village located on the north coast of Madeira with its unique traditional agricultural area mainly producing potatoes, sweet potatoes and grapes from its vineyards. A new hydroelectric power station along with 16 kilometers of levada channels and 12 tunnels were build in 1965 to satisfy the need for electric power.
Ribeira da Janela sits in one of the longest valleys in Madeira and was named after a rock with a window that stands at the end of the river Ilheu da Ribeira.
