Public Transport Service in Madeira

The Horários do Funchal bus service offers easy access to Funchal via its city, urban and interurban services. In the centre of Funchal, the environmentally- and wheelchair-friendly mini buses (Linha Eco) are a handy way for visitors to discover different parts of Funchal. These buses do not have designated stops and can be hailed and boarded anywhere in the capital.
Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday from 08:00 - 20:00 and Saturdays 08:00 - 14:00. This service is not available on Sundays and public holidays.

The urban bus service transports passengers to the suburbs of Funchal and to popular attractions including the Botanical Gardens, Praia Formosa and Monte.

Some specialised buses offer bicycle transportation, so visitors can take a bicycle to explore even further afield. Look for the (TB Horários do Funchal) sign at the front of the bus. Each bus allows a maximum of 2 bicycles.

The interurban service offers regular bus services to the village of Camacha, the spectacular Nun’s Valley and the beautiful village of Santana. Rodoeste offers regular bus services to the villages of Câmara de Lobos, Ribeira Brava, Ponta do Sol, Calheta, Porto Moniz and São Vicente. The SAM bus service serves the east of the island, including stops in Porto da Cruz, Santo da Serra, Machico, Santa Cruz, Caniço and Madeira Airport.

Tickets for all bus services can be purchased onboard. For timetables, maps and further information:
